POSITION OVERVIEW

The Massage Therapist is responsible for performing treatments on guests while maintaining the guest’s comfort at all times, following all hotel standards and procedures. They ensure that the highest standard of service is maintained throughout the spa and build relationships with guests for repeat business. They recognize the importance of “sales” in every aspect of their role and are responsible for achieving sales targets as set by management. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform massage and relaxation treatments including couples, deep tissue, prenatal, hot stone, wraps, scrubs, and all other treatments provided at the Spa.
  • Design sessions around guest’s specific needs and suggest massage schedules for recurring sessions.
  • Serve as an expert in muscle and body analysis and maintenance regimens. 
  • Promote and sell massage therapy services and treatments and encourage repeat business and upsells.
  • Attend all required training classes and stay current on updated protocols and hygiene requirements.
  • Greet and interact with guests according to the hotel standards, always professionally and safely.
  • Assist in monthly inventory counts.
  • Contribute to the team’s overall targets and strive to achieve personal targets and goals as set out by the Spa Management team.
  • Maintain strong treatment and retail knowledge with the ability to accurately describe benefits and prices.
  • Encourage guests to return by recommending an ongoing treatment program, inviting guests to rebook.
  • Consistently communicate guest preferences, to accurately update guest profiles and communicate any relevant information to colleagues.
  • Report any guest complaints to the Spa Manager so they can be handled promptly and effectively.
  • Respond to all guest inquiries promptly, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and organization of the work area at all times. 
  • Ensure that adequate supplies of all public information materials are available and in immaculate condition. 
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure guests needs are met and communicated.
  • Maintain a good knowledge of the hotel and facilities available.
  • Be highly visible and interface with guests on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, services levels, and overall satisfaction.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and continually communicate a clear and consistent message regarding the departmental goals to produce the desired results.
  • Maintain a professional and personable appearance at all times, according to hotel standards.
  • Successfully achieve the hotel’s core competencies including work product, teamwork and culture, guest and customer service, work ethic, impact-oriented problem solver, and entrepreneurship.
  • All other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification from an accredited school of massage.
  • Must possess Massage Therapist License in the state of the hotel.
  • Must possess or be able to undergo CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a luxury hospitality operation.
  • Proficient in managing and using sales automation, Spa Software, and PMS systems.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including complaint handling and resolution. 
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage multiple concurrent demands while prioritizing responsibilities.
  • Results oriented and highly motivated self-starter. 
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds on own and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to stand and walk for entire shift.
  • Requires writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
