Description

Our Specialty Mental Health Adult Outpatient program provides therapeutic case management services and medication management to Alameda County adults who have a significant mental illness. The psychiatric social worker provides a variety of supportive services – helping clients manage and attend their medical appointments, therapy, assisting with money management, supporting clients in finding and/or maintaining housing, helping them get a job. This is a union position. The unlicensed hourly wage is $31.83/hr and the license hourly wage is $38.65/hr.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Possession of a Master’s Degree in a Social Work, Professional Clinical Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy accredited school/program.
• Registered as an ASW/AMFT/APCC or possession of a State of California License as an LCSW/LMFT/LPCC/PsyD. Unlicensed applicants must present a verifiable registration number issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science of their eligibility as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. SUPERVISION TOWARDS LICENSURE PROVIDED.
• Knowledge of principles and practices of modern psychosocial assessment, psychotherapy and DSM-5.
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of mental health education and prevention within the community.
• Basic computer skills (i.e. familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to navigate the internet.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s license, maintain person auto/liability insurance and qualify for the Council’s automobile insurance.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Familiarity with the Harm Reduction model of Substance Use Disorder.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary setting.
• Familiarity with Alameda County Behavioral Health Services documentation and billing.
• Experience with EHR; OCHIN EPIC a plus.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

• Interviews client, relatives, friends, and others to obtain data on client’s psychosocial functioning.
• Identifies and documents, with client assistance and agreement, client-focused goals.
• Learns and informs the clients of their right to privacy and confidentiality, the program grievance procedure(s), mandatory reporting requirements and program rules and services.
• Gathers psychosocial data to complete a comprehensive mental health assessment, including diagnoses and identifying a potential course of treatment.
• Assists client’s treatment team, which may include psychiatrists, psychologists, case managers, and primary care providers, in developing a program of treatment.
• Participates in any county meetings and/or trainings as needed.
• Works as a member of a treatment team.
• Assists families with problems arising from clients’ admission to the hospital and in working out discharge and post-hospital care plans.
• Monitors and arranges for disbursement of client funds as part of the BHCS Sub-payee program.
• Utilizes resources of community agencies and provides linkages to care.
• Maintains complete, timely and detailed client records comprised of assessments, treatment plans and progress notes.
• Adheres to productivity requirements and submits required reports in a timely manner.
• Cooperates with other departments, ACBHS entities and staff of other agencies to deliver effective care, treatment and services as needed.
• Participates in community activities with health and welfare.
• Performs other assigned duties not specified above but which are related and fall within the scope of psychiatric social work.
• Performs all duties in compliance with correct departmental performance standards.
