Job Title: Donation House Advocate - Part-time (Morning Hours) Monday-Friday
Job Purpose:
The Donation House Advocate is responsible for accepting and sorting donations, arranging drop of dates and times for donations and escorting battered women and their children to the donation house. The Donation House Advocate is responsible for working with area businesses in the community on developing relationships to receive new donated items for the agency donation house.
Experience & Knowledge:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ability to oversee the day to day operations of the Hope Chest by
  • Receiving, sorting, and solicit donations from area businesses and inventory control of donations
  • Coordinates the receiving of donations by established an inventory list and maintain a list of items needed to maintain the inventory needed.
  • Maintains proper documentation by completing agency and funder paperwork in a timely, efficient and accurate manner
  • Provides for survivor physical and emotional needs by
  • Establishing personal rapport with individual survivors, maintaining shelter and Dana House (Donation House) security, distributing basic need items, and arranging transportation for survivors as needed, etc.
  • Demonstrates concern for others by listening carefully and without judgment.
  • Conducts in-takes on new admissions to the safe shelter by interacting with other staff to determine eligibility, welcoming women (and their children) to the shelter, and work with to see that basic needs meet through donations from Danna House (Donation House).
  • Maintains the cleanliness and maintenance of the Dana House (Donation House) by
  • Keeping donations sorted and properly stored
  • Coordination clean up dates with domestic violence staff and volunteers as needed.
  • Coordinates all maintenance activities and follow-up on such activities to ensure they are done in accordance to agency procedure and appropriate standards.

  • Developing a plan of action and expressing ideas for program and/or operational improvement.
  • Assures quality service by
  • Enforcing program guidelines, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) program standards, and agency procedures.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development by
  • Attending relevant workshops, seminars and agency staff meetings and trainings.

  • Communicating effectively with other staff persons,
  • Exhibiting a willingness to help other staff,
