The Wall Las Memorias is Hiring a Community Organizer (Stop the Gondola) Near Los Angeles, CA

Office Location: 800 W. 6th Street. L.A. 90017, Suite 750 and 2020 E. 1st, Street, Los Angeles, CA 90033
Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week, 100% onsite, Temp-to-hire)
Salary: $48,000 depending on experience and expertise
Benefits:
· Medical, 85% paid by employer (employee only)

  • Employee responsible for dependents.
· Paid vacation (80 Hours first year of employment, after 5 years it increases to 96 hours)

About TWLM: The Wall Las Memorias serves low-income and hard-to-reach communities throughout Los Angeles educating community members on the importance of HIV and AIDS, substance abuse prevention, mental health stigma reduction for LGBTQI2-S transitional-aged youth (TAY), and community building in the Latinx and marginalized communities.
Position Overview: This is a great opportunity to use your community organizing skills at a premier LGBTQ Non-Profit.We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Community Organizer with a focus on Special Projects to join our dynamic team. The Community Organizer will be responsible for driving targeted community initiatives that address specific issues, engage key stakeholders, and drive positive change. This role requires a strategic thinker who can mobilize community members, organize events, and collaborate with various partners to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Development: Lead the conceptualization, planning, and execution of special projects aimed at addressing specific community issues, collaborating with stakeholders to define project objectives, strategies, and desired outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Identify and engage community leaders, organizations, businesses, and government entities relevant to the special projects, building strong partnerships to enhance project impact.
  • Community Mobilization: Develop and implement strategies to mobilize community members, raising awareness of project objectives and encouraging active participation.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and manage events, workshops, town halls, and other activities as part of the special projects, creating platforms for dialogue, education, and collaboration.
  • Advocacy and Outreach: Serve as a vocal advocate for the special projects, communicating their importance to community members, media, and decision-makers.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather relevant data and feedback to assess the effectiveness and impact of special projects, using insights to refine strategies and enhance future initiatives.
  • Evaluation and Reporting: Prepare regular reports on project progress, outcomes, and challenges, presenting findings to internal teams, stakeholders, and funders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in community development, political science, public health, sociology, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in community organizing, project support, or a similar role, particularly focused on executing special projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Event planning and coordination experience, with a knack for organizing engaging and impactful events.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
  • Passion for social justice, community empowerment, and positive change.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of the dynamics within the community.
  • Preferred bicultural and bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of the local Los Angeles community, such as East Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, Echo Park, Lincoln Heights, Elysian Valley, El Sereno, Highland Park, Downtown Los Angeles and other surrounding cities, geography, and population
Minimal Requirements
· Possession of a valid California driver’s license
· Possession of automobile liability insurance
· Available personal transportation
