The Schooler/Van Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school, ensuring the well-being of all passengers during transit. This role involves maintaining a schedule, following traffic regulations, and ensuring the vehicle is in good working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

Transportation:

• Transport students to and from school, field trips, and other school-related activities.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules promptly.
• Ensure the safety and security of all passengers.

Vehicle Maintenance:

• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
• Report any mechanical issues or necessary repairs to the supervisor.
• Ensure the vehicle is clean and fueled.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to all traffic laws and school transportation policies.
• Implement and follow safety procedures, including ensuring all passengers are wearing seat belts.
• Manage student behavior during transit to maintain a safe environment.

Communication:

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
• Report any incidents or disciplinary issues to the appropriate authority.
• Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and fuel usage.

Customer Service:

• Provide a friendly and courteous service to all passengers.
• Assist students in boarding and exiting the vehicle when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Prior experience in driving larger vehicles or school buses preferred.
• Licensing: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements, if required by state law.

Skills:

• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic regulations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle emergencies and stressful situations calmly.
