Position Overview: The Groundskeeper is resposibible in maintaining and enhancing the appearance of outdoor spaces. This includes overseeing landscaping, lawn care, and general maintenance activities. The groundskeeper is expected to ensure that the grounds are kept in pristine condition and that the team works efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
· Run equipment without supervision and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
· Keep an inventory of tools and equipment.
· Provide updates on project timelines and completion.
· Inspect work regularly to ensure it meets quality standards.
· Address any issues or concerns promptly.
· Conduct regular safety meetings with the crew.
· Perform regular mowing. Edging, and trimming of lawns and green spaces.
· Implement improvements to enhance the overall appearance of the grounds.
· Record and report all use of chemicals.
· Prune trees, shrubs, and bushes to maintain their health and shape.
· Plant flowers, shrubs, and other plants to enhance the beauty of the landscape.
· Removing weeds from flower beds and walkways.
· Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and other treatments as needed to maintain plant health.
· Keep pathways, sidewalks, and parking areas free from debris, leaves, and other litter.
· Maintain cleanliness of outdoor furniture, fixtures, and amenities.
· Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
· Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and lawns.
· Identify and repair irrigation system issues, such as leaks or malfunctions.
· Operate and maintain various groundskeeping equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and tractors.
· Conduct routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure proper functioning.
· Identify and address potential safety hazards on the property, such as uneven surfaces or fallen branches.
· Collaborate with other staff to ensure that walkways, driveways, and parking areas are well-lit and safe.
· Prepare outdoor spaces for seasonal changes, such as winterization and spring cleaning.
· Remove snow and ice from walkways and pathways during winter months.
· Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment safely.
· Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks.
· Communicate with supervisors or property managers regarding maintenance needs and issues.
· Keep records of tasks performed, materials used, and maintenance schedules.
· Working with the ground’s supervisor in the vineyard, tasks such as but not limited to pruning, weeding, and spraying.
· Comply with any tasks given by management outside this description.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a related field is preferred.
