Job Title: Finishing & Fulfillment Manager

Department: Operations

Position Type: Exempt/Full-time (40 weekly hours)

Salary/Pay: $80K , DOE

Job Summary:

The Finishing & Fulfillment Manager is responsible for overseeing the final packaging, labeling, quality control and inventory control of cannabis and non-cannabis products destined for distribution through retail dispensaries and wholesale channels. This role demands an active engagement in enhancing efficiency through continuous improvement, standard operating procedure development, automation, adhering to best practices, and guaranteeing high quality product availability for retail locations & wholesale customers. A key part of the role is auditing product quality and implementing inventory controls to minimize risk and product loss, all within the scope of Verdes' quality management system and ISO9001 standards. Success in this position looks like ensuring we always have 100% product availability at our stores while fulfilling wholesale orders within 24 hours of receipt.

Operational Excellence and Order Fulfillment:

  • Oversee daily order fulfillment operations, including processing, picking, packing, and delivery, ensuring a seamless workflow from order receipt to delivery.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for inventory control, logistics management, and order fulfillment to meet and exceed operational goals.

Inventory Management and Procurement Optimization:

  • Monitor and track inventory levels to prevent stock-outs and manage deadstock, optimizing inventory turnover rates.
  • Enhance procurement processes by fostering strong vendor relationships, improving performance, and reducing lead times.

Leadership and Process Management:

  • Manage the packaging & finishing staff, setting clear job expectations, and monitoring workflow, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Drive the achievement of manufacturing results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and training, and foster opportunities for personal growth and cross-training.

Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Oversee all stages of the final packaging process to ensure adherence to the highest quality standards and compliance with Verdes' quality management system and ISO9001 standards.
  • Maintain product workflow and quality by overseeing all stages of the final packaging process; optimize process steps to ensure the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and enforce strict inventory control measures and oversee surveillance protocols to minimize shrinkage and prevent loss, ensuring that all transactions are accounted for and any discrepancies are swiftly addressed and rectified.
  • Ensure strict adherence to organizational standards, and maintain a safe, clean work environment in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Audit the quality, compliance and weight of products and processes, implementing continuous improvement to align with Verdes standards and strategic goals.
  • Responsible for the retrieval of all returned and non-conforming products, ensuring that they are compliantly destructed and accurately documented within our inventory systems in alignment with regulatory standards and Verdes’ policies.
  • Responsible for further implementing inventory controls to minimize risk and product loss, all within the scope of Verdes' quality management system and ISO9001 standards

Production and Efficiency Optimization:

  • Ensure the completion of store & wholesale orders by scheduling and assigning personnel; monitoring progress and resolving problems efficiently.
  • Develop & Analyze performance records and data, initiating improvements or optimizations where necessary.
  • Develop and report on KPIs and establish SMART goals to track and improve finishing & fulfillment department performance.
  • Report on various fulfillment and performance KPIs, providing data-backed insights to inform daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, offering actionable updates to enhance order fulfillment service level agreements (SLAs) and vendor performance metrics.

Equipment and Resource Management:

  • Oversee the operation of packaging printing & labeling equipment, scheduling repairs, and evaluating new equipment and techniques for potential adoption.
  • Develop and revise systems and procedures by analyzing current practices and implementing necessary changes.

Team Development and Support:

  • Resolve personnel issues by analyzing data, investigating issues, and identifying and recommending solutions to improve team dynamics.
  • Contribute to the overall team effort, ensuring related tasks are completed as required and the packaging department's goals are met.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Physical and Emotional Requirements:

  • Capable of repetitive motion and fine motor skills for packaging and labeling tasks.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods and transition from sitting to standing multiple times during the shift.
  • Manage occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs and the physical dexterity to handle delicate products.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, which may require the handling of multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Stamina to maintain attention to detail over long periods while upholding quality standards.
  • Emotional resilience to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic operational needs while maintaining a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
