High School Art Teacher (Grades 7-12) 

Salary: $45,000 per year

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status: Exempt Regular Full-Time

Start Date: July 26, 2024 

General Purpose: The High School Art teacher supports our school mission by helping children learn to appreciate art, understand the elements of art, and create art by learning and applying the basic elements and principles to a variety of visual art mediums.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Subject matter knowledge

• Methods and approaches used for drawing: aesthetics of form and space including linear perspective, proportion, value, composition, and line quality
• Elements of art and the principles of design
• Theories and history of artistic creativity and aesthetics including philosophies of prominent major developments, periods, and artists in Western traditional art and architecture.
• Knowledge of Art History in Western Civilization. 
• Artistic development in children and adolescents
• Photography
• Color theory and its application.
• Understanding the elements of 3-D art forms and their creation
• Understand the processes of creating art in a variety of mediums through personal experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree, art background preferred.
• Passed the PRAXIS II

Experience: 

• Prior teaching experience preferred but not required.
