Are you interested in becoming a Radiology Nurse?

We are seeking a RN to join the Radiology team as a Staff Nurse II position. Our Radiology Nurses:

  • Require a high level of knowledge, expertise and independence as the department provides services to a variety of patients of all ages with diverse needs, where information regarding the patient may be limited.

  • Work collaboratively with technologist(s) and/or radiologist(s).

  • Will have good communication skills as they are key for this position.

  • Utilize skills employed in many other nursing specialties and incorporate them in the radiology setting.

  • Must provide quality nursing care, be a spokesperson for patient care and teach/mentor other radiology staff members on patient care issues.

  • Complete specialized nursing duties such as administering I.V., sedation or analgesia during special procedures, monitoring vital signs, closely monitoring patients with cardiac/pulse oximeters i.e., and pacemaker monitoring during MRI scans.

  • Will be required to care for patients receiving nuclear medicine treatment, care and management of labs, medications, and pre and post intervention phone calls.

  • Radiology modalities call on nurses to care for patients transported from inpatient settings, patients in emergency situations, pediatric patients and others needing sedation with assistance of the anesthesiologist.

  • The Radiology Nurse may be called upon to help write patient care policies, design flowsheets, patient instruction sheets and/or develop protocols and care plans.

Additional required tasks may include:

  • routinely start or check peripheral IV's,

  • assess/de-access infusaports,

  • suction patients,

  • insert in-dwelling catheters and assisting patients with their personal needs.

Shift info:

  • Monday through Friday, 9AM-5:30PM.

  • Currently there are no weekends involved with this position. May be occasionally asked when the need arises.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Like all Staff Nurse II employees at UVMMC, this RN in Radiology will provide professional nursing care to patients during radiology exams and procedures in varying state of health and illness by assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing plan of care. The Staff Nurse II functions as an essential member of nursing, Radiology and multidisciplinary teams, providing direct patient care, instruction, and preparation for continuing care after discharge. May take charge as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont is required.

  • The University of Vermont Medical Center is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce.

  • All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have greater than one year of experience.

  • Appropriate experience in specific clinical area (Radiology) is preferred.

SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE:

  • External candidates are eligible for a one-time signing bonus of $10,000 when hired full time (prorated for part time roles). The bonus will be paid out as a half the total amount gross pay adjustment in the first pay check and the remaining half will be paid upon completion of one year (2,080 hours/ prorated for part time) of satisfactory service.
