This teaching position is located at a partner residential treatment center campus in a non-traditional alternative educational setting. The average class size is 10 or fewer students. This 194 days (traditional school calendar) position is from August 1st to May 31. A new hire for this position will be required to attend paid new employee orientation on July 30, 2024 in Austin, Texas. The University of Texas-University Charter School is a public charter school and follows all state and federal regulations for public school services. Salary will be spread over 12 months. Start date: August 1, 2024. Responsibilities Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to add educational value for each student. ESL, GT, at-risk, etc. Comply with UT-UCS curriculum standards and all relevant policies and procedures UT, UT-UCS, and campus. Implement each student's IEP and 504 accommodations as stated. Establish and maintain open communication with the principal, professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents, and students. Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the treatment plan if applicable, the Student Code of Conduct and the student handbook. Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessment of student learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction. Participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings and staff development as required. Required Qualifications Any Texas Secondary Math, or any Secondary Science, or ELAR 7-12, or Social Studies 7-12 teaching certification. Knowledge of assigned subject or subjects. Understanding of TEKS and the curriculum standards of the State of Texas. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests. Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that trauma may play in the lives of our students. Proficiency in technology and technology applications to the level specified by the district. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. This position requires fingerprinting. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Valid Texas Math 7-12 or Science 7-12 and Special Education EC-12certificationz. At least one year of student teaching or approved internship. Salary Range $56,000 depending on qualifications Working Conditions Classrooms are located within a residential treatment facility.
