Job Posting Title: Parking Enforcement Officer II ---- Hiring Department: Parking and Transportation Services ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt ---- Earliest Start Date: Immediately ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue ---- Location: AUSTIN, TX ---- Job Details: General Notes UT Parking and Transportation Services is responsible for the management of over 17,000 parking spaces on campus, including 12 parking garages and more than 50 surface parking lots. Our operations include the distribution and regulation of daily, permitted, and event parking, as well as the maintenance of parking lots and garages. We also provide assistance to those parked on or traveling through campus. This assistance includes jump-starts and opening vehicles for those locked out. Purpose This position provides university parking services by enforcing University rules and regulations. Ensures that parking regulations are enforced and assists the public with information, such as directions to buildings and offices. Shift assignments may vary depending on departmental needs. Weekend work may be required. Holiday, occasional overtime or comp time required as necessary. Work without day-to-day supervision. Responsibilities All Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs) perform a combination of functions: ticket writer, kiosk guard, relief guard, auto assistance provider, customer service rep., event set-ups and removals, garage and lot counts, and Boot Truck Driver. Will traverse a geographical area (district) via different modes of transportation, including walking, scooter, bicycle, cart, or motorized vehicle, while issuing parking violation citations or warnings. Articulates directional information and location of buildings and offices to visitors. Installs and removes immobilization devices. Provides key and battery assists. Takes lot counts as directed. Supports the Event staff by delivering, setting up, and taking down cones, barricades, signs, and sign covers. Will walk and lift immobilization devices, stacks of parking cones, and impound scooters weighing approximately 30 pounds continuously throughout an 8 hour shift. Weekend, holiday, and event overtime will be required. Writes incident and campus condition reports, and conveys to supervisor and/or management. Reports all irregularities, emergencies, or suspicious activity to the University Police Department. Provides occasional supervisory assistance at the discretion of the on-duty supervisor, or if supervisor is out of the office. Weekend, holiday, and event overtime will be required. Must work a minimum of one home football game in addition to every other Thanksgiving week home football game Required Qualifications High school graduation or GED. Minimum one year experience in a supervisory capacity. Minimum two years customer service experience. Experience using PC or compatible personal computer. Experience participating as a team member, completing reports, maintaining database records and maintaining files. Must have demonstrated professional demeanor, show attention to detail, have reliable transportation, and display punctual, dependable attendance. Must be able to walk continuously during an 8-hour shift, lift 30 lbs., bend and affix immobilization devices, etc. Must have clean driving record at time of hire and maintain an acceptable rating at all times. Must be flexible about work schedules. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Three or more years’ experience in parking, law enforcement, or military experience. Three or more years’ customer service experience. Previous experience working in a university environment. Previous experience working in a large volume parking operation. Knowledge of UT structure, policies, rules and procedures. Demonstrated strong communication skills, both oral and written. Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
