Job Summary

The Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department in the College of Engineering (CoE), the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), invites applications for five full-time Non-Tenure Track (NTT) teaching faculty positions. These openings are for positions that start in the Spring or Fall 2024 semester. These NTT positions can be at the rank of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Instruction, all are Non-Tenure Track status.
In accordance with USCIS regulations, successful applicants must be legally able to accept work in the United States.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates are expected to have strong teaching and communication skills and should have the technical capabilities and knowledge to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in one or more specialization areas of computer science, software engineering, or computer engineering. For these openings, preference will be given to qualified applicants who can teach classes in one or more of the following areas: undergraduate programming and data structures; computer engineering; database and related; data science, and AI/machine learning.
Required Qualifications

Candidates for Assistant / Associate / Full Professor of Instruction or Senior Lecturer must have earned (by the start date) a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related area. Candidates for Lecturer must have earned (by the start date) an M.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related area. Industrial experience will also be a consideration.
All candidates must show a strong commitment to teaching excellence and should share the university's core values of fostering an open environment that promote participation of groups that are currently underrepresented in computing and engineering fields.

Department Information

CSE (cse.uta.edu) is part of CoE at UTA, one of the largest engineering colleges in Texas (uta.edu/engineering). Active CSE research areas include data sciences; databases/big data; data mining/machine learning; software engineering; cloud computing; networks; mobile and pervasive computing; IoT; computer vision; security and privacy; bioinformatics and biomedical computing; robotics; and artificial intelligence applications.
CSE faculty members actively pursue collaborations and funding opportunities. The department has interdisciplinary projects with UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, University of North Texas Health Science Center in Ft. Worth, UTA's Research Institute (UTARI), the School of Nursing, and the College of Science, among others.
The CSE department has been growing rapidly in the last 10 years. Our Fall 2023 enrollment reached a record number of more than four thousand six hundred students, including approximately two thousand BS, two thousand four hundred MS, and 160 PhD students. CSE has strong support from CoE and UTA administration. Its friendly environment and excellent support staff help incoming faculty and students feel at home and thrive.
