Academic Advisor
The College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated Academic Advisor to join our dynamic team.
An academic advisor plays a crucial role in guiding undergraduate students through their academic journey, ensuring their success and timely progression towards their educational and career goals. This academic advisor's responsibilities will include communicating with both degree- and non-degree-seeking students enrolled in undergraduate business classes. Specifically, the advisor will meet with Pitt Business degree-seeking students enrolled in Pitt Business and the David Frederick Honors College to help create academic plans, register for classes, and review information related to degree requirements. The advisor will discuss and facilitate career-related work experiences (in the context of the student’s development as a business professional), internships, and study abroad plans and address any other issues that affect a student’s academic performance and career goals. For non-degree-seeking students, the advisor will communicate information relevant to the requirements of the Pitt Business Minor and other business distinctions.
Utilizes basic advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small, routine projects.
To be present as scheduled in CBA Advising to be able to effectively communicate with students.
Position is generally sedentary but may require walking on campus to attend meetings/events.
