Performs phlebotomy and a variety of difficult venipuncture procedures. Completes laboratory tasks related to routine phlebotomy labeling procedures, telephone inquiries, and distribution of phlebotomy supplies. Instruct and train others in phlebotomy techniques. Provide training and education on correct specimen procurement techniques. Responds to or may direct responses to inquiries concerning phlebotomy policies and procedures. Performs data entry and computer tasks related to order entry and phlebotomy. Provides supervision of phlebotomists, assists with interviewing and selecting new staff, conducts performance appraisals, works to set phlebotomy staff schedules.
Schedule: 0600-1430 M-F
BASIC FUNCTION
Provide health-related services and/or clinical operational support to assure effective and efficient delivery of health care. Positions in this family require either health-related education, such as Health Information Management, or experience and in-depth knowledge of healthcare systems in order to provide services that support care delivery (e.g., patient relations, clinic operations, etc.).
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Provide Support Services to Clinical and Non-clinical Departments
Provide services for patients such as interpretation, support in obtaining care, navigating the delivery system, or addressing care/service issues. May supervise the delivery of services such as health information, clinic scheduling and operations, etc. Perform tasks/inspections to meet compliance goals and patient/customer satisfaction expectations.
Communicate/Collaborate with Internal and External Constituents
Collaborate with peers and co-workers to enhance the delivery of health care. Provide feedback to management on means to achieve goals and resolve service issues.
Develop Programs, Policies, Practices that Enhance Patient/Staff Environment
Provide input/suggestions regarding policies, practices, and programs that improve services.
Human Resources Management
Provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching, and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.
Financial Management
May analyze, monitor and report financial data, information and reports. May initiate and/or approve routine fiscal transactions. May contribute to budget development.
