Mother Baby Care Unit:
The Mother Baby Care Unit on 6JPP is a 17-bed unit dedicated to the care of antepartum and postpartum obstetrical patients. Antepartum patients may require hospitalization for preterm labor, diabetes, high blood pressure, or bleeding concerns among other conditions and are monitored closely using external fetal monitoring. Postpartum patients reside here during their recovery from vaginal or Cesarean deliveries. Parents and newborns are cared for together and may receive a variety of support services such as lactation visits, circumcisions, social work consults, medical imaging, and hearing testing. Electronic infant security is utilized and nutritional support for the unit is received by the Mother's Milk Bank of Iowa.
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist members of the nursing team in provision of multiple types of patient care in in-patient and out-patient care areas. Their work requires familiarity with a wide variety of nursing procedures used in delivering patient care.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Percent of Time: 50%
Schedule :M-F 8 or 12 hour shifts (0700-1530) every 3rd weekend (0700-1930) holidays as assigned
