This position will perform complex technical and related duties for the Department of Surgery Trauma and Burn registries, including entering, analyzing, reviewing, abstracting, and coding medical information obtained from a variety of EMS and outside hospital records as well as hospital data sources such as documents, reports, lab and radiology profiles, on-line records and other summaries initiated in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Information abstracted is used for performance improvement, benchmarking, research, and is required for verification as a Level I Adult & Pediatric Trauma Center as well as a verified Burn Center. The data is also reported to the Iowa Department of Public Health as required by the Iowa Trauma State Statute.
Percent of Time: 50%
Schedule: Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm.
Location: Hybrid
This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program related policiesand employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
