Essential Job Functions:

• Evaluates patients utilizing the advanced/specialized test and measurements; to determine the physical therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment.
• Promotes and has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Establishes a treatment plan based upon the evaluation findings; and the patient/family, the referring practitioner, and therapist's goals.
• Performs advanced/specialized physical therapy techniques and procedures.
• Treats patients with complex problems i.e. co-morbidities and/or poor previous out-comes; consults on difficult cases for staff and referring practitioners.
• Documents findings; patient progress; and procedures performed, and time required.
• Instructs patient/families in home programs.
• Demonstrates effective time management; achieves designated productivity standard.
• Complies with QC/QI standards/monitors.
• Attends rounds, conferences and clinics as assigned; reports on patient status and recommends patient discharge environment.
• Develops new clinical programs; assumes lead role in research collaboration i.e. with faculty et.al.; develops and monitors QI.
• Trains affiliating PT/PTA students.
• Mentors, coaches, teaches PT I, PTII, PTA's in clinical /didactic topics within area of expertise through lecture, in-service, observation, demonstration, etc.
• Teaches specialty related topics in affiliated PT/PTA academic programs.
• Serves on hospital and/or departmental committees/task forces re: service delivery matters and customer relations.
• Assumes leadership in the absence of the supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school with Bachelors or Master's or DPT degree or verification by the APTA of equivalent training in another country.
• Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois 
• Oncology/Lymphedema certified required.
