Job Description:

JoinIngalls Memorial Hospital's Ambulatory Surgery Center as a Registered Nurse (RN) for our campus in Tinley Park, IL! Because we specialize in outpatient surgery, our center has been equipped with comfort in mind and our technology is state-of-the-art. Our services include Cosmetic Surgery, ENT, GI, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Oral & Maxillofacial, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Podiatry, Women's Health, & Urology. We are members of the Ambulatory Surgery Centers Association and received our accreditation from the Joint Commission of Health Care Facilities.

With the leadership of the Clinic Manager, the Registered Nurse functions as an interactive resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. The Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating and performing direct nursing care for patients, utilizing concepts of the nursing process, serving as a resource, preceptor, mentor, and leader for physicians, professional peers, and other fellow employees, and providing participative supervision to the Patient Care Team Members in collaboration with the Patient Manager.


Essential Job Functions:
  • Assesses patient, identifies surgical site, implements plan of care, performs perioperative duties of circulating/scrubbing, documents in electronic medical records, monitors patient while in OR suite
  • Assists with anesthesia induction and care of patient while in the operating room.
  • Acts as a preceptor
  • Picks cases for the following day
  • Participates in huddles, staff meetings and check email at least once a month.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
Experience and Training:
  • Minimum 1 year of Perioperative experience, preferably ambulatory surgery
  • Computer literacy (knowledge of EPIC is preferred)
  • Ability to plan and lead clinical operations as member of a management team.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • Ability to maintain effective communication and a working relationship with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, management and ancillary department
Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelors of Sciences in Nursing (BSN) required
  • BLS required
  • CNOR Preferred
