The Trustees of Reservations is Hiring a Community Outreach Manager, Boston Waterfront Initiative Near Boston, MA

The Position:

The Boston Waterfront Initiative (BWI) Outreach Manager will work with the Regional Engagement Manager and BWI Associate Director to plan and implement a robust and strategic outreach and engagement plan in Boston, with a focus on East Boston. This work will include collaboration with local outreach, programming, and advocacy partners; in-person and online outreach work; planning, promoting, and implementing programs and outreach activities. The Outreach Manager will work closely with the Boston regional team of stewardship and engagement staff.

Weekend and evening work will be required consistently.

Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000

Job Functions:

Programs and Outreach Planning & Implementation

  • Work under the guidance of the Boston Regional Engagement Manager and BWI Associate Director to develop the annual program and community outreach plan for BWI, and execute with the support of the BWI Engagement Coordinator.
  • Support site-specific BWI project outreach work, including the planning and execution of site-specific public meetings and events.
  • Manage BWI social media with an eye towards expanding reach to local target audiences.
  • Create content and promotional materials to be shared online and in person.
  • Track yearly outreach and engagement metrics and maintain records of activities.
  • As relevant, assist with language translation and interpretation for events and programs, and related materials.
  • Oversee part-time Engagement Coordinator.

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Foster relationships with new and existing community, program and advocacy partners for the BWI advocacy and outreach goals.
  • Recruit and manage project and programming volunteers.
  • Facilitate collaboration with internal and external project team including consultants, staff, seasonals, and volunteers.
  • Support Development work, including providing information for grant proposals and reports; and collaborate on program sponsorships and acknowledgements.

Manage Waterfront Ambassadors Program

  • Prepare for seasonal youth employment program: meet with external partners, prepare program schedule.
  • Hire and manage Program Manager, Assistant Program Manager, providing support for their work and program.
  • Oversee hiring and management of 12 youth Ambassadors.

Initiative Support

  • Support project budget development and management.
  • Support prioritization of organizational and project-level DBIE goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate closely with Greater Boston stewardship and engagement staff
  • Represent BWI and support execution of Greater Boston programming as needed, especially during large scale engagement events

Work with Regional Engagement Manager to find opportunities for collaboration between different programs within the Greater Boston team

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, Bachelor's preferred
  • 3-5 years of related experience, can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree
  • Bilingual skills preferred—Spanish fluency preferred
  • Familiarity with Boston neighborhoods, especially East Boston, preferred
  • Experience working in a multicultural, multigenerational environment preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to creating inclusive experiences for visitors and engaging with diverse community groups who will inform and support our commitment to DBIE
  • Experience creating and executing events and programs
  • Prior demonstrated success in outreach and/or organizing work
  • Willingness to learn and adapt based on emerging community and/or organizational priorities
  • Project management skills and experience desired
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • - including comfort speaking in front of groups and delivering presentations
