The Town of Parker is Hiring a Day Camp Counselor Junior (PT) Near CO 80134, CO

This is a safety-sensitive position exercising a high degree of discretion, trust and confidence to properly execute duties efficiently and effectively. An individual in this position is responsible for providing a safe and fun environment for children in the Fieldhouse Day Camp program.
This is a part time position that mainly works during the Summers and School Breaks following the Douglas County School District Calendar. Assist Sr. Counselors in all duties and responsibilities listed below.
 
Supervises campers with facilitating program rules, regulations, and safety concerns.
 
Implements a variety of age appropriate recreational and educational activities for youth enrolled in the Fieldhouse Day Camp program.
 
Maintains a safe and positive environment for all site-based and excursion activities.
 
Maintains the schedule for, and administers when necessary, medications to children in accordance with State regulations and parental instructions.
 
Provides safe transportation for children to and from the facility, schools and excursions.
 
Assists with the set-up and clean-up of day camp activities and programs.
 
Participates in daily camp activities to serve as a beneficial role model to campers.
 
Assists in the resolution of conflicts and or violations of rules with parents, children or other parties that are connected with the program and its operation.
 
Handles disciplinary situations with children in accordance with State regulations and parental instructions.
 
Complies with all policies and regulations of the Recreation Department and the Town.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES: 
On occasion, may be responsible for coordinating payments with the Directors to ensure that businesses, contractors and vendors are paid in timely manner for products and/or services rendered.
 
Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be 16 years of age or older. Day Camp Counselor Jr. will auto progress to Day Camp Counselor Sr. at the time they turn 18 years of age and provide proof of 460 hours working with children.
 
The ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background, including but not limited to CBI/FBI criminal record check, Department of Social Services Central Registry check and drug screen is required.
 
Ability to obtain and maintain the following certifications and trainings prior to the first day of working with children. CPR and First Aid certification, Injury Prevention, Heads Up Concussion training, Mandatory Reporting, Playground safety, FEMA, Building and premises Training, Universal Precautions and Medication administration.
 
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in operating a licensed child-care facility.
 
Ability to successfully implement philosophies, methods, policies and procedures that will assist in the achievement of Town and department goals.
 
Ability to demonstrate through decisions made and courses of action taken, a maturity of judgment and ability to handle stressful situations.
 
Ability to implement planned activities, safely and successfully that involves a broad range of youth.
 
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, parents and the general public.
 
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both orally and in writing.
 
Ability to learn, and the skill necessary, to successfully implement policies, laws, ordinances, and regulations.
 
Ability to analyze situations carefully and adopt effective courses of action using problem-solving techniques.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 
Various computers, software packages, automobile, telephones, facsimile machines, copy machine, printers, small hand tools, and other various equipment used in a childcare center.
 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is consistently required to stand and walk, occasionally required to sit, and frequently use hands, fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. 
 
The employee is frequently required to carry, pull, push, or lift at least 25 pounds. Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. Must be able to frequently engage in ordinary or telephone conversations with speech and hearing.
 
Employee must be able to consistently see with near and far acuity, depth perception, color vision and field vision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust his or her focus, allowing a broad field of vision.

 Part-time and Seasonal Town of Parker employees have limited access to benefits which include: employee assistance program (EAP), one (1) hour of sick time accrued for every thirty (30) hours worked, and employee plus one (1) other member in your household a membership to the Parker Recreation Center and/or Fieldhouse.
