To operate computer-controlled Co2 or fiber laser cutting machine to perform one or more functions. Operator must ensure proper production work flow using SigmaNest.

Position Responsibilities :

• Prioritize work and operate lasers efficiently
• Use programs including FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and / or Laserflex Automation
• Utilize SigmaNest nesting software to create tasks
• Create programs, load raw materials, and operate the lasers using the correct settings / conditions
• Managing various utilities including compressed air, nitrogen, power supplies, etc.
• Maintain machines operation, periodic cleanings, maintenance and addressing breakdowns
• Monitor the work cell via control panels, gauges, charts, alarms, inspection of operation, etc. to ensure it is operating properly and producing parts to VPI standards
• Strive for continuous improvement in operations of the work cell including workflow, quality & speed of cut, scrap rates, etc.
• Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions / errors
• May include other fabrication duties

Minimum Qualifications :

• Minimum high school diploma, GED or equivalent school with relevant work experience
• Minimum 1-3 years of applicable work experience
• Must have a mechanical aptitude, strong analytical skills and strong computer skills
• Must be able to read and understand established procedures and detailed work instructions
• Experience of operating basic CNC machine controls / programming
• Ability to operate forklift and overhead hoist in a safe and orderly manner
• Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. and stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time

Preferred Qualifications :

• 2 years Operating Co2 Mazak and / or fiber lasers
• 2 years Using SigmaNest or similar nesting software
• 2 years using FMS Automation, HTX Mazak, STX Mazak, and / or Laserflex Automation
• 2 years maintaining Co2 Mazak and / or fiber lasers
