The Timbers is Hiring a Lead Bartender Near Gatlinburg, TN

Summary: The Timber at Holly Branch is a boutique hotel in Gatlinburg, TN. The Lead Bartender will be responsible for taking care of the guests, answering questions, and most importantly ensuring an unforgettable experience. This role is also responsible for preparation beforehand, work during the service shift, cleaning for a fresh start the next day, and other assigned responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment
  • Prepare, mix and serve alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages and food to guests directly or through serving staff.
  • Precisely take food and beverage orders and enter into the point-of-sale system
  • Check identification of guests for legal drinking age
  • Prepare specialty drinks and pour wine and beverages during service
  • Memorize menu items and specials for professional recitation
  • Up-sell established menu items or specials to maximize food and beverage revenues
  • Maintain professional composure while managing large groups quickly and efficiently
  • Provide attentive and polite service throughout meal or event
  • Accommodate special requests that the kitchen/grill can deliver for the guest
  • Monitor and observe guests' dining experience; ensure guests are satisfied with the food and service. Respond promptly and courteously to requests.
  • Assist, as needed, with greeting/seating guests and filling glasses
  • Assist as needed with food delivery, especially with large parties and during peak/events
  • Assist setting up, serving, and tearing down of events both on and off location
  • Assist the regular cleaning and preparation for service
  • Clear guest tables and properly reset tables for service
  • Set up bars, including glassware, decor, bar fruit, garnishes and chilling beverages
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and security of the bar and bar storage areas
  • Manage bar inventory at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Properly date and store all items including equipment, perishable foods, and open wine
  • Accurate completion of closing paperwork and cash handling
  • Maintaining updating cocktail and liquor menus in conjunction with Hotel Management.
  • Assists Hotel Management with ordering all alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, juices, fruits and other garnishes.
  • Maintains inventory control, price setting, and receiving of all liquor and related supplies in conjunction with Hotel Management.
  • Assure that opening/closing checklist is completed and that the restaurant is prepared for opening/closing.
  • Maintain professional appearance, behavior, posture, and hygiene
  • Follow daily opening and closing checklists
  • Follow daily/weekly/monthly routines to maintain acceptable standard of operation
  • Ensure all utilities and equipment (TVs, fans, grill, etc.) are turned off at the end of the day
  • Adhere any COVID-19 or health related response bulletins
  • Attend all educational, safety, etc. staff meetings
  • Perform other duties on property as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 5 years' experience in a full-service restaurant
  • 1 year in a bartending role with a full bar; country club, hotel banquet, or fine dining
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old for serving alcohol
  • Current TN ABC license or ability to renew or obtain license
  • High School Diploma preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with customers, the public and team members.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be willing to work weekend, holiday, and evening shifts
  • Understanding of restaurant etiquette
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations
  • Excellent track record of communication skills working as a team player
  • Strong organizational skills with the multiple dining tables and bar seating
  • Ability to improvise and make decisions based on business or guest needs

Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, climb stairs, twist, kneel, lift, push, and pull items weighing 55lbs. Must be able to stand and continuously move throughout the workday. Must be willing to work outdoors and be comfortable in varying weather.
