Job Summary
This is a full-time, fiscal year position reporting to the Associate Vice President of Administrative Services (AVP). Works interactively with all campus entities in support of the College's overall mission.
The Executive Director is responsible for providing maintenance, repairs and construction services for the operation of the facilities, grounds, utility services and other related functions. The Executive Director ensures campus facilities and grounds are maintained in an efficient and economical manner that promotes a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Job Duties
Manages, plans, directs, and is responsible for the development and implementation of operational and strategic maintenance plans, goals and objectives for all operations within the Physical Plant (custodial, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, grounds, maintenance) at multiple sites to ensure effective, efficient and cost-effective delivery of services.
Formulates and manages annual operating budget and capital budget and expenditures.
Coordinates facility planning and construction of all new capital improvement projects.
Manages, reviews, and inspects work of all service contractors and construction projects.
Supervises administrative staff to ensure efficient operation of the physical plant.
Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals.
Develops and executes the capital renewal and replacement budget, capital outlay project request and project disclosure budget to TBR.
Advises the AVP of all institutional policies and procedures related to the management of the physical resources of the College.
Attends and is an active member on several college committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline or an equivalent experience combination of education and experience.
Five (5) years experience in work directly related to facilities management, engineering, and/or building maintenance.
Three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory/administrative experience.
Knowledge of operating procedures for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, and energy management systems.
Knowledge of and ability to remain current with federal, state and local statutes, codes and regulations.
Ability to write bid specifications and manage contracted services.
Ability to read and interpret engineering/architectural drawings, renderings and specifications.
Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, construction managers and other external agency staff.
Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments and to provide technical guidance and leadership to physical plant personnel.
Ability to foster a cooperative work environment within the physical plant department and the college community.
