Job Summary
The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Group Leaders, you will play a pivotal role in planning, creating, and implementing a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for students. You will be responsible for leading a group of students through a variety of recreational and educational activities which support student's learning as well as promote self-esteem in small group settings that fit the ASES Grant requirements of the following activities.
Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) Group Leaders must meet qualifications as required by the Unified School District Program, ASES Grant, and TCF.
Essential Functions
Supervision and Safety
  • Supervise up to 20 students during program school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times specifically designated by the Program Facilitator.
  • Enforce program rules and policies to maintain a safe and orderly environment.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to any emergencies or incidents that may arise.
  • Confers immediately with the Program facilitator concerning suspected child abuse and follows the mandated reporting procedure.
Activity Planning and Implementation
  • Plan and organize age-appropriate activities and projects to engage students in constructive and educational pursuits.
  • Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, sports, academic enrichment, and recreational games.
  • Incorporate STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) concepts into activities to promote holistic learning.
Academic Support
  • Provide homework assistance and academic support to students as needed.
  • Collaborate with school staff to align after school activities with classroom learning objectives.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to help them achieve academic goals.
Behavior Management
  • Set clear expectations for behavior and conduct within the program, promoting a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Implement appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary, following program guidelines and protocols.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity, promoting acceptance and understanding among students.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, school staff, and program administrators.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement program goals, strategies, and initiatives.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.
Additional Responsibilities
Fulfill any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, recognizing that the role may evolve to include new tasks introduced by the company.
Job Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge/Experience/Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have at least 48 semester college units or successful completion of the Paraeducator exam
  • TB test clearance
  • Must pass DOJ/FBI criminal background check
  • Must be punctual and reliable
  • Must possess strong classroom and behavioral management skills.
  • Must have experience working with youth and general knowledge base of core elementary subjects.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Must be able to communicate openly in a professional manner with staff, students, parents, and community partners
License/Certification/Clearance
  • Sexual Harassment Training Certificate *required
  • Mandated Reporter Training Certificate *required
  • First aid and CPR Certification *preferred
Physical Demands
  • Must have sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position and to safely supervise children’s activities including the ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be fit for frequent bending and standing.
