The Lower School Math Specialists are responsible for working with grade level teachers to promote the educational growth of Lower School students within the framework of The Summit Country Day School Mission Statement. The schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:50 a.m.-3:35 p.m.

Responsibilities:

• Provide push-in and pull-out instructional support to students.
• Provide direct instruction to students in our Math Orange Dot program and monitor student performance by recording relevant data to assess progress.
• Plan, prepare and develop various Mathematic teaching aids.
• Facilitate PLC sessions with each grade level team focusing upon priority standards, common assessments, pre/post test data, supporting struggling students, and supporting those who know it.
• Working with teachers to interpret and take action upon standardized testing data.
• Facilitate Round Table Time preparation meetings with each grade level.
• Be a mission appropriate role model and champion of student learning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Education, Mathematics, or relevant field (Licensed Intervention Specialist preferred).
• Willingness to obtain an Ohio Department of Education Non-Tax Certification.
• Experience in working with lower school age children.
• Be proficient in the tools available through Microsoft Office 365.
• Must be flexible and adaptable in meeting the needs of the children and the program.
• Ability to: sustain long hours of active work, interact with students on the floor, move furniture, stand for a minimum of 25 minutes, quickly guide students to safety in drills or emergencies, and monitor both playground and cafeteria.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
