The Stow Company is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Lead Facilities Maintenance Technician located in Holland, MI. We are the country’s premier source for custom closets and organizational solutions; designed, custom-cut, and shipped directly to our clients.

Primary Purpose of Position:

This position maintains proper preventative maintenance on facilities related equipment and grounds. Performs repairs and or installation when required. (Holland only) Coordinates with and gives direction to Level 1 Facilities Maintenance Technician when required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates outside supplier contacts for landscape and snow removal maintenance, dust collection disposal, general waste disposal services, building HVAC, security camera and fire suppression system inspection contractors/providers.
  • Maintains building painted indications for fire extinguishers, ERT stands, aisles and floor lanes for pedestrian and forklift traffic.
  • Ensures all equipment safety barricades and warning signs are current and in good repair for equipment electrical cabinets, Network cabinets, etc.
  • Coordinates and controls master key lock box for all forklifts, equipment keys and building master and other door key copies.
  • Performs maintenance tasks associated with building systems, such as carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs to ensure that the building is properly maintained
  • Operates and performs routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC equipment and related systems.
  • Identifies, coordinates, and assists external vender PMs and service visits as needed
  • Assists maintenance coordinator with tool crib responsibilities and duties as needed.
  • Picks-up and delivers spare parts and or other items as needed.
  • General daily cleaning and upkeep This would include but not be limited to weeding, snow shoveling trimming or general cleanup of scrap and dust collection area’s
  • Performs janitorial duties, when necessary
  • Participates in problem-solving initiatives, Kaizen events, and lean manufacturing activities
  • Lives Company values on a daily basis.

  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential elements as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities

The Stow Company may temporarily assign any team member with duties outside of their normal responsibilities. Such assignments may be warranted due to a variety of specific requirements, conditions and/or the capabilities of available personnel. Management will determine the nature and duration of those assignments.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a facilities/maintenance role.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must obtain a Stow Company forklift license and maintain forklift license when driving
  • Qualify/operate aerial lifts

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Utilizes basic machining tools, powered hand tools, and other maintenance-related equipment which may include metal working, electrical, plumbing, woodworking and equipment repair
  • Be familiar with OSHA standards for dust accumulation and other relevant safety guidelines
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail
  • Able to work quickly and efficiently
  • Interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with individuals both internally and externally to The Stow Company
  • Must have excellent customer service skills; including strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have the ability to interface with all levels of personnel in an office and a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to take the initiative and work well independently with little supervision, and as part of a team

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, etc.
  • Able to perform full range of body movements, such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
  • Able to perform activities requiring repetitive motions
  • Able to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Able to tolerate an environment where sawdust particles are present
  • Sitting at workstation approximately 5 percent of work time
  • Standing and walking approximately 95 percent of work time
  • Must be able to travel between plant and office locations
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice
  • Manufacturing environment with multiple machinery and moving parts, narrow aisles and passageways
