POSITION OVERVIEW
The Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager for Elementary English Language Arts (ELA) to lead and support educators across the state in delivering highly effective elementary language arts education. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the implementation of the Oklahoma Academic Standards (OAS) in every classroom and will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment with state standards and other literacy initiatives.
Please note: this role does not allow for any form of remote work, including telecommuting or hybrid arrangements. The nature of this position necessitates a consistent in-person presence. Prospective candidates should be aware that the responsibilities associated with this role require physical presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field [official transcripts required upon hire];
  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate or administrative certificate;
  • At least three (3) years’ teaching experience or coordinating curriculum and instruction for PK-12.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s degree in Education or related field [official transcripts required upon hire];
  • At least three (3) years’ experience as a school administrator.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future;
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Knowledge & Expertise: A comprehensive understanding of elementary language arts education, including literacy development, reading comprehension strategies, writing instruction, phonics, vocabulary development, and language conventions. Thorough knowledge of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for English Language Arts, including familiarity with the standards' content, structure, and expectations at the elementary level.
  • Professional Development: Lead and provide guidance to elementary educators across Oklahoma in implementing best practices for language arts instruction. Develop and deliver professional development sessions, workshops, and resources to support teachers in effectively integrating the Oklahoma Academic Standards for ELA into their curriculum.
  • Curriculum Alignment: Ensure alignment of instructional materials, resources, and assessments with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for ELA. Collaborate with curriculum specialists to develop and refine instructional materials that support the implementation of the OAS in elementary classrooms.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other literacy initiatives within the Oklahoma State Department of Education to ensure coherence and alignment with the objectives of the OAS for ELA. Coordinate with district leaders, instructional coaches, and other stakeholders to support the implementation of effective language arts instruction in elementary schools.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data related to student achievement and instructional practices to inform decision-making and identify areas for improvement. Monitor progress towards meeting goals and objectives related to elementary ELA education and provide support as needed to ensure success.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Location: Oliver Hodge Building, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
  • Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled office setting with exposure to moderate noise. While performing the duties of the job, employee is frequently required to talk, stand, walk. This position requires long periods of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time;
  • Ability to stand, reach and bend 50% of the time;
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine/printer, office telephone 75% of the time;
  • Ascends/descends stairs 25% of the time;
  • Communicate with others accurately and effectively 100%;

TRAVEL
