The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division for Children, Youth, & Families has a full time vacancy for SYSC Supervisor VI.

SUMMARY:

To oversee the program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and administration of residential services for the Division for Children, Youth and Families at the Sununu Youth Services Center (SYSC). To supervise the residential operations at SYSC and to uphold the vision and mission of the agency through utilizing the Practice Model theories, beliefs, and principles in daily practice.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises residential facility supervisors and staff and develops, implements, and evaluates SYSC residential operations.

Partners with the Clinical Department to ensure clinically informed program development and daily operations. Implements the facility trauma informed treatment model across all residential programming, to include ensuring interactions and interventions with youth consider the youth’s unique treatment goals and are viewed through a trauma lens. Role models the use the de-escalation techniques to diffuse volatile situations with, and between, youth and/or staff.

Maintains Controlled Force certification, supervises physical interventions to assure safety of residents and staff and compliance with policy for Restrictive Intervention. Reports all incidents to on-call administrator.

Oversees safety and security operations of the SYSC facility including planning, analyzing and evaluating safety objectives and policies. Makes recommendations for change as needed.

Participates in critical case reviews conducted by quality assurance staff of DHHS/DHHS. Based on outcomes, make recommendations to the administrative team regarding practice change or policy development, and implements adopted changes.

Works closely with the administrative team to develop new programming initiatives that are clinically and trauma-informed, in order to ensure positive youth outcomes.

Manages and oversees human resources duties for residential services, which includes recruitment of Supervisor IV and Youth Counselor staff, interviewing, hiring, disciplinary actions, and accident/injury reporting, and works with DHHS Human Resources Department.

Reviews and recommends personnel actions for subordinate employees, including step increases, promotions, disciplinary action, or performance evaluations to ensure provision of quality service and that program goals and guidelines are met.

Liaison between SYSC Administrators and Supervisor IV's, providing education, training, and technical assistance whenever necessary.

Supervises the Master Scheduling Coordinator for SYSC residential facility staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained daily, and the Recreational Youth Counselor, ensuring a variety of scheduled recreational opportunities are offered and encouraged for youth while adhering to all SYSC safety and security policies and practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's degree from a recognized college or university with a major study in social work, psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, or behavioral science.

Experience: Six years' experience in social work, juvenile justice, child protective services, psychology, counseling, sociology or human services and public administration, plus four years in a supervisory or management level position in any occupational area. If related to the program area, the supervisory or management experience will count as part of the six years' total experience. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education at the graduate level only.

License/Certification: Valid driver’s license and/or access to transportation for use in statewide travel.
