The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, and New Hampshire Hospital has a full-time vacancy for a Electrical/Electronic Specialist.
Summary: First, to perform skilled work in installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical power and lighting systems at the level of Journeyman Electrician. Second, to install, maintain and modify electronic or computerized life safety, security, closed circuit television, alarm communication, detection and signaling systems within the NH Hospital facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, and completion of a standard electrician apprenticeship (8,000 hours of practical or field experience plus 600 hours of electrical schooling).
Experience: Two years of experience in the field of electronics, electronic security systems, electricity, radio, wire communications or similar activity, sufficient to provide a good technical knowledge of electronic equipment. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Licensure as a Journeyman Electrician by the New Hampshire Electricians' Licensing Board. Valid driver's license. Must have current New Hampshire driving record verified by the Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles, indicating no major traffic violations. Must complete the State's Safe Driving Program within the first six (6) months of employment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess physical ability to climb ladders, walk, kneel, carry tools, and position materials. Must demonstrate ability to lift 80 pounds from the floor to a height of 30 inches to a table/countertop; to climb a 10' stepladder and work at 12' height over a ceiling, and to walk 200 yards carrying a25-pound toolbox, and squat or kneel for one minute while working down low.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Knowledge of national and local electrical codes. Skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment used in the electrical trade. Skill in locating and adjusting defects in electrical systems and equipment. Ability to work from plans and specifications and to understand and effectively execute oral and written orders. Ability to supervise apprentice electricians and electrician helpers as required. Ability to recognize potential problem areas and to take appropriate action. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees. Ability to perform duties in a challenging environment in the presence of ill and/or potentially dangerous residents and clients and to have positive interactions with all parties. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing authority. Must be willing to perform other job-related duties as required.
