The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to approximately 130 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. KNI practices a person-centered philosophy to support our residents so they can have the quality of life they deserve by recognizing their individuality, honoring their choices, protecting and maintaining their health, helping to build and maintain their relationships with others, and making sure that they are included in every aspect of their lives; in their homes, in their jobs, and in the community.

KNI has 19 homes with direct support staff assisting with daily living activities in each home throughout four buildings and is located on a large campus, east of the VA hospital in Topeka. KNI is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.

About the Position:

The Unit 1 Director of Nursing is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating all floor nursing activities in the Treatment Rooms, homes, and Medical Unit. This position supervises the RNs, LPNs, and CMAs in the Unit 1 Nursing Department and ensures adequate care and staffing. They audit and ensures that medical services, health plans of care, and medications are properly provided to the people that live at KNI. They also ensure compliance with all KNI policies and procedures, and Federal, State, and Pharmacy policies and regulations.

Compensation/Other Information:

• Hourly Pay Range: Starting at $36.13/hour (with a additional 24/7 State Facility differential of $6.00/hr for every hour worked)

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the State of Kansas

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of experience as an RN as well as two years of experience in a leadership role

• Ability to pass a drug screen test
