What you will do:

Summary

The Office of Quality and Innovation serves as the catalyst for ensuring high levels of performance across the state to support a strong workforce and positive outcomes for Florida families. The office seeks collaborative, action-focused, and transparent professionals dedicated to putting quality at the center of serving families.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Serving as an instructional designer on the Curriculum Development Team (CDT) creating immersive educational experiences for the workforce at large.
  • Using instructional design methodologies to develop and/or evaluate various workforce learning resources such as compliance curriculum, training programs, and specialty courses based on the analysis of department needs; primarily focusing on maximizing learning and knowledge transfer.
  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention.
  • Ensuring training meets accessibility, usability, and functionality standards for classroom, online, self-study, and blended learning opportunities.
  • Piloting new trainings when appropriate to ensure necessary changes and revisions are made before implementation.
  • Assists program offices in the planning and development of pilot learning programs, evaluates results, and uses the findings to establish new or modified learning programs.
  • Participating in or facilitating curriculum review committees with other program training managers or coordinators, to collaborate about the needs of training across program areas and the Department and identify target audience training needs.
  • Collaborating with the Education Curriculum Analyst to collect training materials and coordinate a revision schedule when curriculum needs to be updated.
  • Reviews historical training to determine if training will benefit from eLearning technology resources.
  • Support the activities of maintaining and updating a training resource library with all training collected from program offices and hospitals statewide.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure curriculum developed is in accordance with Department policy as well as Florida Statutes/Florida Administrative Code.
  • Supports the Education Technology Consultant to validate and test SCORM files loaded into the Department’s Learning Management System (LMS) My FL Learn, ensuring all eLearning courses meet accessibility and functionality criteria before deploying statewide.
  • Creating training for statewide implementation and setting expectations for which parts of the curriculum must be covered statewide.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years of experience in instructional design/curriculum development for a workforce
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Authoring Software such as Articulate

Preferred:

  • M.S. in instructional design, curriculum development, or related area
  • 3-5 years of experience in instructional design/curriculum development for a workforce

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience in training and instructional systems design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with all levels of leadership, management, and staff.
  • Experience with adult learning theory.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint (Office Suite) and Microsoft Teams are required.
  • Excellent skills with Articulate Storyline and design tools such as Canva, Vyond, Well Said Labs, etc.
  • Capable of working with a high degree of independence, determining work priorities, and ensuring proper completion of work assignments.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that include the ability to teach, coach and mentor workforce.
  • Passion for learning and improving training programs and processes.
  • Strong communication skills, verbal, and written.
  • Knowledge of mission and vision of the Department of Children and Families.
  • Understanding of continuous quality improvement processes and integration across programs.
  • Ability to fact-find, identify trends, root causes, and effective practices from data.
  • Proficient in systems-thinking across operational locations, department programs, and government agencies.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to make decisions and recommend solutions.
  • Proficient in collaborating within a cross-functional team.
  • Consistently demonstrate a high level of professionalism in interactions and personal presentation.
  • Demonstrate respect for others and professional interest through speech, nonverbal communication, active listening, and cultural competence.
