SALARY WILL BE BASED ON CURRENT STATE EMPLOYMENT AS WELL AS SKILL AND EXPERTISE
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Incumbent performs procedures and reports results in the section assigned. Incumbent is responsible for Quality Control, Quality Assurance, supply inventory and instrumental maintenance. This position has On-Call Assignment responsibilities.
Perform testings and report results relating to the screening and confirmatory results of specimens submitted to the laboratory for Syphilis Serology.
Assist in the Microbiology/Parasitology department, including Aptima testing as required.
Perform testing and reports results in Hepatitis and HIV departments.
Removes the brain from animals to be tested for rabies and prepares and examines it for the presence of rabies virus, using fluorescent microscopy and other staining techniques. Respond to On-Call requirements during weekend or holiday hours as needed to perform rabies testing.
Perform quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing for the departments as needed.
Maintain supply levels as necessary for uninterrupted service delivery.
Perform send out of specimens for referral testing when required. Prepares and discards daily medical waste following Bureau of Laboraories bio-waste protocol. Attends staff meetings and required training and follows Bureau of Laboratories and Department of Health safety policies.
Perform other laboratory duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of terminology, principles and techniques used in analysis and testing.
Knowledge of procedures, techniques & equipment used in lab testing and analysis.
Skill in the use of lab equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
Minimum - Associate Degree. Be eligible for a clinical laboratory technologist license or public health license.
Preferred - Bachelor degree. Hold a clinical laboratory technologist license or public health license. One year of Experience.
