CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
  • The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
  • Four (4) years of experience involving electrical, plumbing, mechanical, heating, air-conditioning systems, carpentry or structural, and architectural systems

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pull reports (RFMSS) to determine work that needs to be completed on the ranges.
  • Oversees the work of six state employees and two contract employees for seven automated and approximately 40 non-automated ranges.
  • Directs subordinates on various work order assignments at the ranges as well as preparing for future projects.
  • Assigns and schedules employees to control the range towers, ensuring proper operation and coverage when being utilized for training purposes.
  • Performs supervisory duties to include entering expectations for the year, evaluating employees, approving timesheets, projecting needed overtime and conducting weekly safety meetings.
  • Inspects ranges and training facilities for hazardous safety problems, proper layout, and system operation per NGR 385-63, TC 25-8 and Local SOP’s.
  • Communicates with Range Control when errors arise during training sessions.
  • Attends weekly supervisory meetings to include safety and operations.
  • Update all Range Tower procedure books, to include Cheat sheets for start-up, language sheets and coordination methods with Range Control).
  • Works in conjunction with Department of Public Works, Environmental and Range Control to ensure mission is completed.
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanics with installations, repairs, minor fabrication on the automated and non-automated ranges.
  • Performs minor electrical and mechanical systems repairs.
  • Performs operator level maintenance, inspections and provides accountability on all assigned tools and equipment.

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate production and quality control.
  • Ability to pull and understand reports from software system.
  • Ability to make timely and accurate decisions during normal operating conditions and critical situations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
