POSITION SUMMARY:

Our statewide technology services team in the Forensic Services Program Office is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Forensics Statewide Technology Services Supervisor. In this position you will play a key role in planning, implementing, coordinating, and managing new and ongoing technology projects. We are seeking someone who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment and is passionate about leveraging technology to advance forensic science.

NOTE: The incumbent for this position can be located at any of the Regional Operations Centers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading the planning, development, and implementating of technology projects to enhance laboratory efficiency, data security, and analytical capabilities;
  • Managing project timelines, and resources to ensure successful project completion;
  • Collaborating with laboratory personnel, IT staff, and vendors on defining project requirements and ensuring system integration;
  • Overseeing project testing and deployment, identifing and mitigating risks;
  • Developing and maintaining project documentation, including project plans, reports, and status updates;
  • Staying current on emerging forensic technologies and industry best practices; and
  • Ensuring compliance with all accreditation standards and regulatory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in forensic science, criminalistics or in a physical or natural science; completion of a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Crime Laboratory Analyst training program (or a comparable training program); and three years of professional experience in a crime laboratory analyst class (or equivalent class).
  • Professional experience in one of the disciplines for which the position will supervise can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of FDLE’s Policies and Procedures, laboratory policies and accreditation requirements;
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and completing complex projects;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills;
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and forensic science workflows;
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira) a plus; and
  • Experience with data security protocols and best practices preferred.

BASE SALARY:

  • $75,000.00

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
