The State Bank of Faribault is Hiring a Bank Teller Near Faribault, MN

POSITION TITLE: Teller
REPORTS TO: VP/Retail Banking
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
REVISED: March 2024

SCOPE:

The Teller position is part of the bank’s retail department and will report directly to the Teller
Supervisor. The primary responsibilities of this position are to help service customers with the paying and receiving functions of the bank, deepen customer relationships and attract additional customers. This position is responsible for taking deposits, withdrawals, and transfers, selling gift/travel cards, money orders, cashing bonds and the like.

In addition, the Teller is responsible for selling additional products to customers and prospects and supporting the overall sales efforts of the bank, balancing the cash, staying within drawer limits, understanding related compliance regulations related to applicable bank services.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Customer Service:

  • Perform paying and receiving functions for customers. This will include taking deposits, withdrawals, and transfers from customers. Additionally, may sell gift and travel cards, money orders and help customers with additional related services.
  • Understand and comply with the related laws and compliance regulations that pertain to teller duties. Examples include bank secrecy act, privacy, and funds availability policy.
  • Provide a high level of customer service. This includes understanding customer needs, as well as understanding the bank products offered.
  • Support customers with maintenance questions concerning their accounts. This will include address changes, check orders and the like.

Sales:

  • Support the overall sales effort. Direct sales goals may be established by management for such items as ATM cards, direct deposit, automated banking, or referrals for other bank products.
  • Participate as part of various retail product campaigns the bank initiates.
  • This position will know other products the bank offers. In that capacity, this person will refer customers to the appropriate department in the bank for service. This may include loans, trust, private banking and the like.

Cash Handling:

  • Ensure that the assigned cash balances on a daily basis and is kept secure at all times.
  • Must keep cash drawer within assigned drawer limits.

Other:

  • End of day balancing of various in-house accounts such as bank money order, bonds, treasury tax etc.
  • As part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities.

Sales:

  • Must understand the role of sales and customer service in a community bank environment. Must be able to discover customer needs and be able to obtain new customer accounts.

EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prefer a high school degree or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years teller experience.
  • Must have computer knowledge and experience and be able to operate typical office equipment.
  • Primarily works day hours but must be available off-hours for meetings, trainings and other business related events.
  • Must be very detail oriented and have basic math skills necessary to perform Teller work.
  • Must have the manual dexterity to count money, occasionally have the ability lift up to 50 lbs., and stand for the majority of the work day.
