The South Suburban Council is Hiring a Recovery Coach Associate Near Hazel, IL

Job Description:
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Residential Services and Supervisors, the Recovery associate will assist client(s) in securing services that support ongoing stability and improvement of the patient’s life goals. These support services include introduction to recovery support systems (such as AA, NA, faith based, family/friends finding a sponsor, etc.); encouraging attendance and active involvement in a treatment program, when appropriate, obtaining assistance with educational goals (GED, apprentice training, etc.); medical/psychiatric appointments (enrolling patient in Affordable Health Care) and assisting in legal compliance of court requirements and other duties as assigned.
Position Summary:
Engages with patients in the Addiction Treatment Program and encourages them to maintain sobriety, participate in recovery-oriented activities and develop a network of sober supports. Participates in group treatment activities and models effective group participation and recovery-oriented perspective for patients with substance use disorders. Helps patients identify and access needed resources and recovery supports.
Responsibilities:
1. Meet with co-facilitators of group therapy to plan presentation of material
2. Attend group therapy sessions and model appropriate group participation
3. Assist with co-facilitating selected aspects of group therapy sessions
4. Provide support and encouragement to group therapy participants
5. Provide information and referrals regarding recovery resources in the community
6. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
The South Suburban Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse is looking to hire candidates with the following credentials. High School Diploma or Associate Degree in Behavioral Health or related field preferred. If applicable, one year of experience in Behavioral Health or Chemical Dependency programs. Must have thorough knowledge of the disease of alcoholism/addiction and its application to patient care. A good working knowledge of evidence-based treatment practices for Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health conditions is important. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) a plus. Person must be willing to travel using company vehicle to transport patient(s) to applicable clinic(s) as instructed. Must have valid driver’s license and minimal auto insurance.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Good organization skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good short-term memory, verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effectively written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable. Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R. Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis. Good driving record and driving skills required. Sitting, standing, walking short distances are activities that the Recovery Coach I must perform.
