Hours: Full Time; Hours: Monday - Thursday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Responsibilities

The Journeys and Adventures that Await

• Pulls deposits from bank lockbox/website and remits from various websites to post payments.
• Reconcile posted payments.
• Enter denials using appropriate system denial codes
• Posts all patients and insurance payments and denials.
• Calls insurance companies when needed to request missing remits or to set up EFT/ERA.
• Attends daily huddles.
• Responds to Billing team inquiries related to posting; and
• Acts as a backup Payment Posting Assistant when needed.
• Meets deadlines for month end and year end posting.
• Corrects and rectifies any posting out of balances
• Works with Finance/Accounting for reconciliation.
• Analyze payments
  • Perform quarterly payment audits showing under/over reimbursements
  • Obtain Payer reimbursements for certain CPT codes when requested
  • Identify any cause of discrepancies
  • Escalate issues as appropriate
• Understand and process complex payments
  • Post offsets from prefunded accounts
• Work closely with accounting, billers, claims and arbitration departments
• Follow up on unapplied payments
• Exhibits computer systems knowledge and proficiency as necessary to perform job functions.
• Demonstrates the attitudes and behaviors of the South Bend Clinic’s Service Standards.
• Adheres to HIPAA guidelines set forth in Clinic policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned when appropriate

Qualifications

Education/Certification/License:

Qualified candidates must possess minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Basic accounting principles and medical billing experience preferred, but not required
• Basic computer knowledge, and experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Customer service oriented.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and data entry skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and quickly adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; and
• Possess good communication skills (both written and verbal).
