The Skagit Casino Resort is Hiring a Director of Risk Management / Security | FT | Wage DOE | 135.23 Near Bow, WA

Our Director of Risk Management / Security will review, implement, and monitor risk, safety, and security procedures to ensure compliance with best practices, policy, and regulatory requirements for protecting employees, customers, and property. They will conduct systematic audits to ensure procedural compliance and recommend and propose important changes as needed. They will also be responsible for training all employees assigned to this department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Business, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required.
  • Requires six years of practical experience in risk management, including loss prevention and safety program development, with at least three years in a manager-level leadership role.
  • In lieu of the education requirements above, consideration will be given to individuals with ten years of practical experience in risk management, including loss prevention and safety program development, with at least three years in a manager-level leadership role.
  • Experience in risk management policy development is required.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of OSHA and other applicable federal and Tribal regulations.
  • Must obtain/maintain a LEVEL "A" license from EPA Underground Storage Tanks (UST) training within first thirty days of employment.
  • Requires well-developed computer, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Requires Workers' Compensation claims handling experience.
  • Safety-related experience in a casino and/or tribal environment is strongly preferred.
  • Certification as a Safety Professional or Associate in Risk Management (ARM) is preferred but not required. Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action.
  • Working knowledge of Washington State Tribal Gaming compact operational compliance obligations and applicable NIGC regulations preferred.
  • Work requires proficiency in computer literacy, preferably in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products and database applications.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of loss control techniques.
  • Knowledge of the safety rules and regulations mandated by applicable federal and Tribal laws.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety policies and procedures.
  • A working understanding of Safety, Environmental, and Hygiene regulations.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and other applicable federal standards and ability to apply standards to casino and hotel operations.
  • Familiarity with workers' compensation claim procedures.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology to interpret medical reports and communicate with health care providers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department managers, executive management, casino management, and outside vendors.
  • Analytical skills to assess injury data and develop action plans to target reductions in problem areas.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Ability to prepare reports and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Prior casino experience is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record to operate company vehicles.
  • Manage and direct a comprehensive risk/loss/safety/security enforcement program.
