What you’ll do

As the Fabrication Supervisor for Utilimaster (A Shyft Group Brand) based at our facility in Landisville, PA, you will enjoy supervising, organizing, and overseeing the employees and processes within the fabrication department at the plant.

You will also be accountable for ensuring that all manufacturing functions are performed in a timely, cost-effective manner consistent with established procedures.

You will also:

  • Plan, organize, and direct fabrication production activities to meet or exceed production goals
  • Forecast staffing for the fabrication department to meet the demands of the business and your team
  • Design, develop, and implement fabrication processes that increase yield and improve quality
  • Identify, document, and implement opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Perform workflow analysis and develop fabrication methods for the production team
  • Coordinate with management and supervisors to establish production and quality control standards
  • Establish and maintain processes to improve safety, productivity, and profitability
  • Implement and maintain OSHA and company programs and standards
  • Ensure your team has received the required safety training and consistently working in a safe manner
  • Develop and implement safety programs to reduce accidents and injuries
  • Partner with managers to address organizational needs, equipment utilization, and maintenance
  • Develop a culture of trust, teamwork, accountability, confidence, and ownership among associates
  • Provide effective communication and coaching to your team
  • Ensure that fabrication supplies and tools are always on hand and available
  • Prepare any required reports and correspondence regarding the production activities of your team
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the fabrication department budget
  • Manage expenses within approved budget constraints
  • Keep track of your team’s activities, identify problem areas, and take corrective actions
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, materials, purchasing and sales to solve complex problems

What you need to be successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering, or a related field, (OR) an equivalent combination of manufacturing/fabrication and team supervisory experience
  • Seven or more (7 ) years of manufacturing experience
  • Three or more (3 ) years of demonstrated supervisory experience in a fabrication/machining/welding setting (Preferred)
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety, quality management, customer service, talent management, project management, lean/TPS manufacturing, inventory management, and asset utilization
  • Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
