Middle School World Language Teacher2024-2025 35.5%FTEThe Sharon Academy Middle School is seeking a qualified, part-time World Language Teacher/ Afternoon Program Coordinator. World Language Teacher (M, T, Th, Fri from 12:00-3:15) Employ innovative, proficiency-based practices of teaching and assessment. Teach Spanish to 7th and 8th-grade students at varying levels, with the end goal that graduating 8th-grade students would be prepared to enter Spanish Novice II at the high school level. Update the learning management system, keep grade data current within two weeks, comment on student progress regularly, and generate 4 report cards for all students each year.
Update course syllabus and class description (for Program of Studies) before the end of each school year. Supervision Duties: Lunch and Recess Stay up to date on current 504s, Individual Education Plans (IEP), and special needs and accommodations of relevant students; adjust curriculum, teaching and assignments accordingly. Independent School Culture Support the mission of The Sharon Academy. Participate in the high school musical Interim at least to the contracted percentage, excluding hourly employees.
Attend the beginning of the year potluck, parent information nights, a minimum of one evening Interim performance, all-school field trips, graduation, and at least two other school-related events. Actively help in keeping the school a clean, healthy, and safe environment.Collaboration and Planning Meet with other teachers, as necessary, to coordinate curriculum or discuss student concerns, Attend all staff meetings and department meetings as scheduled and participate in faculty meetings and in-service days, which include crucial training and professional development. Teaching Qualifications: Teachers must hold a teaching license or be qualified, through education and/or experience, to teach the subject(s) for which they are hired to teach. Such qualifications must be approved by the Independent School Consultant at the Vermont Agency of Education.
