Position Summary

The Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator will be responsible for providing general administrative support to The Shade Tree’s Human Resources and Marketing department with a focus on coordinating the volunteer program, gift acknowledgement, data entry, and donor stewardship. The Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator will provide direct and indirect supervision of volunteers and volunteer groups. Customer service experience and excellent interpersonal skills are essential for meeting volunteer goals and interacting with prospective donors. Pre-employment FBI background report and NV State CANs check required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Support The Shade Tree in their overall mission of providing safe shelter to homeless and abused women and children in crisis and offering life-changing services promoting stability, dignity, and self-reliance.
• Grow volunteer program by recruiting volunteers to commit to reoccurring, one-day, short-term, and long-term volunteer projects; and researching community organizations to coordinate additional volunteer opportunities.
• Onboard new volunteers by processing volunteer and group applications, interview, screen, and evaluate volunteers as well as department needs ensuring proper placement of volunteers making the best use of individual talents.
• Maintains a volunteer database that includes volunteer sources, contact information, volunteer participation, volunteer skills and performance volunteer assignments, activity status and other relevant information.
• Collects, compiles, and analyzes monthly statistics; prepares report on volunteer hours, group volunteer hours, and other data pertaining to volunteers as needed. Document, track, and report volunteer hours and number of volunteers.
• Assist in coordinating fundraising events, third party fundraisers, and maintaining fundraising calendar.
• Assist Development Manager with preparing materials for meetings with donors and committees.
• Assist Development Department with sending communications, coordinating development committee calendar, note taking during committee meetings, and sending follow-up emails to committee members.
• Attends events planned by the Development Department and assists in execution of events.
• Assists in coordination of 3rd-party fundraisers
• Assists in planning and implementing multi-faceted development and fundraising strategies as well as reaching Development Department goals and objectives.
• Exercise discretion and respect confidentiality of donors, clients, potential clients, partners, sponsors, and staff.
• Performs additional duties as assigned carrying out the TST mission. The duties listed above are intended only as general illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Education, Training & Experience Requirements

Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory FBI background report and a clear Nevada Child Abuse and Neglect Screening (CANS).

• High School degree and two years’ experience in volunteer coordination or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate with, supervise, and empower volunteers to be effective.
• The ability to work cooperatively with different types of personalities.
• Strong commitment to The Shade Tree’s goals and mission.
• Experience recruiting, training, managing, and supporting groups of people to address community needs through service projects.
• Ability to build relationships and work with volunteers, community members, donors, and sponsors.
• Track record of planning, implementing, and executing events.
• Strong language and communication skills (written and oral).
• Ability to give presentations to large groups and speak in public.
• Enthusiastic, compassionate, and positive attitude toward helping others.
• Ability to work well independently and on a team.
• Availability, dependability, and willingness to be flexible.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems and think strategically.
• Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, database, and internet; knowledge of Live Impact preferred.
• Must be able to travel in own personal vehicle and possess a valid Nevada driver license.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
