Administrative / Food Service Assistant (Part-Time)

The Seeing Eye, Inc., the oldest existing guide dog school in the world, is seeking an experienced individual for the part-time position of Administrative / Food Service Assistant in our Food Service & Housekeeping department.

For 94 years, The Seeing Eye has enhanced the independence, dignity, and self-confidence of people who are blind through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs. From its picturesque main campus just outside Morristown, NJ, and a nearby state-of-the-art breeding station, The Seeing Eye’s 160-member staff serves an average of 260 people who are blind and visually impaired annually, providing training with specially bred Seeing Eye dogs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain Inventory - Cold, Dry, Smallware, Chemicals and Linens
• Place Orders - Food, Paper Products and Chemicals
• Purchase Items at local stores
• Set-Up and Clean-Up of Dining Areas
• Serve meals to students, staff and guests
• Assist with meal service during special events

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Previous experience with inventory control and ordering.
• Proficiency with various software programs including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Good working knowledge of general office practices and business etiquette.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines while providing consistent and professional service.
• Ability to perform duties with efficiency and accuracy without immediate and constant supervision.
• Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Possess good organizational skills including attention to detail and follow through.
• Maintain complete confidentiality, possess a professional demeanor, and exercise discretion at all times.
• Previous experience as a food service worker or in a similar role is preferred.
• Ability to work additional as needed.
• 20 hours per week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• $17.00 per hour
