About SEED:

The mission of SEED schools is to prepare scholars academically, socially, and emotionally, for success in and beyond college in a public, college-prep, boarding school setting.The SEED Public Charter School of Washington D.C. (SEED DC) opened in 1998 as the nation’s first urban public college preparatory boarding school. SEED DC empowers over 250 scholars in grades 8-12 to achieve their full potential within our 24-hour learning environment and exposure opportunities. In the year 2023-2024, SEED will serve grades 9-12 only as we transition to providing more high- quality, high school seats to families in the District. All SEED scholars live on campus between Sunday evenings and Friday afternoons.Our innovative model integrates a rigorous academic program with a nurturing boarding program that teaches life skills and provides a safe and secure environment. This boarding school model provides a comprehensive solution to the challenges facing urban youth and serves as a prototype for expansion nationwide. Our model has proven successful: over 90 percent of SEED graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges and universities throughout the country and over 60 percent remain enrolled in college or already have earned college degrees.

  • 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Shift
    • Greet guests entering the school office (e.g. visitors, parents, students, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of responding to inquiries, directing individuals to appropriate location/personnel and/or ensuring that all visitors have signed in on the visitors log at the front desk and direct them appropriately
    • Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. proofreading, filing, copying, faxing, etc.) support departmental operations
    • Answer, screen and forward incoming calls
    • Receive and logging package deliveries
    • Receive and sorting mail daily
    • Perform enrollment activities (e.g. interpreting transcripts, updating automated student information system, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with financial, legal, state or federal requirements
    • Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. proofreading, filing, copying, faxing, etc.) support departmental operations
    • Using PowerSchool to locate and call down students who have appointments, early dismissals, etc
    • Oversee and enforcing the attendance policy, monitoring school wide attendance data, and working with individual students and their families with regard to attendance issues
    • Track students arriving and departing
    • Maintain a professional awareness of regulations regarding child welfare and attendance by having a working knowledge of state law, Board policy, and administrative regulations
    • Work closely with teachers, school nurses, guidance counselors, and principals regarding students who are absent or tardy too frequently and who have not responded to the corrective efforts made by the building principal
    • Refer any student who appears to have exceptional problems that interfere with school attendance or adjustment to school counselors and administration

    • Make final determination of “excused” or “unexcused” absence
    • Perform enrollment activities (e.g. interpreting transcripts, updating automated student information system, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with financial, legal, state or federal requirements
    • Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. proofreading, filing, copying, faxing, etc.) support departmental operations
    • Monitor food deliveries to ensure students are not picking up food
    • Any other duties assigned by Director of FACE
 Qualifications:
  • Front Desk management experience
  • Associates Degree or higher
