The Salvation Army is Hiring a Part-Time Welcome/Front Desk Associate Near Norfolk, VA

The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Welcome/Front Desk Associate in the Hampton Roads Area Command Kroc Center.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Membership Coordinator, the Front Desk Associate conducts membership sales and provides an exceptional customer service experience and promotes the Kroc Center Membership and Programs to members and non-members in the community; answers the telephone in a courteous manner and directs calls to the appropriate destination; greets members, visitors and clients; provides general information about The Salvation Army's operations and services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field,
And
One to three years of experience,
Or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
License/Certification:
Valid State Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles and practices of public relations.
Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.
Ability to prepare effective printed materials for educational and promotional purposes.
Ability to present a positive and professional image of The Salvation Army.
Ability to plan, coordinate, and evaluate special events.
Ability to administer a budget and monitor expenditures for compliance with the same.
Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports in an accurate and complete manner.
Ability to clearly communicate roles and responsibilities to individuals and groups.
Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers.
Ability to plan, schedule, and conduct orientations, meetings, trainings, and public presentations.
Ability to effectively utilize community resources.
Ability to promote awareness and support for the Volunteer Program.
Mental and Physical Abilities
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to speak before large groups in person.
Duties are usually performed seated.
Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
