The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Aquatics Manager for the Kroc Center, located in Augusta, GA.
Job Summary:
Responsible for the on-site supervision of the aquatic facility. Duties will include responsibility for the maintenance, personnel management and staff relations, lesson coordination, shift reports and record keeping, programming, and scheduling of the aquatic facility. Ensures that the program operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Duties will also include working closely with the Kroc Program Director and community program partners in developing programs for the Kroc Center based upon ongoing needs assessment and business plan as well as Kroc Manager on Duty resposibilities on a scheduled basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to interact professionally in all contacts with the public and Salvation Army Officers and staff; ability to multi-task, ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a safe and effective manner; ability to supervise swimmers and provide constant surveillance of pool activities in order to ensure swimmers safety and to respond to emergency rescue when needed; ability to exercise good judgment and be comfortable taking initiative with projects; ability to perform life saving techniques, CPR and First Aid procedures; ability to test and adjust pool water and chemicals to ensure the proper balance as well as safety of the swimmers; ability to effectively provide leadership, counseling and education to youth, parents and staff; ability and aptitude to make decisions and meet commitments within established policies and procedures and handle sensitive situations appropriately with staff, children and parents; ability to supervise staff and participants with varying educational and cultural backgrounds; ability to handle stressful situations; knowledge of life saving techniques; knowledge of proper pool management.
Education and Experience
Four (4) year degree in related field and a minimum of four (4) years experience at swimming pools in lifeguarding, instruction, and maintenance: management experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications
Current American Red Cross Certification including Certified Water Instructor Trainer, Standard First Aid or equivalent, CPR and AED Certification, Certified Pool Operator, Certified Lifeguard, Safe From Harm Certification
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Ability to operate or use on either a daily, weekly or monthly basis: janitorial supplies, hoses computer and office equipment, aquatic safety equipment and other pool equipment such as lane lines, pool lifts, pool vacuum, pool heater, pool sand and filter; meet attendance requirements; must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis; must be able to perform tasks of a repetitive nature without diminished performance; must be able to bend, squat, twist, and stand, as these movements are a regular requirement of this position; must be physically able to give emergency care if a situation arises; ability to read, write and communicate the English Language. Work is performed in a normal indoor pool environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associate with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
