The Salvation Army , an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has opening for a part time weekend 3rd shift Residential Aide (12:30 am - 8:30 a.m. - Sat. & Sun) for the Kentucky - Tennessee Territory, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
Job Summary:
Provides daily supervision, monitoring, reporting, and technical support services to clients in a residential facility; maintains appropriate records in addition to ongoing written and verbal communication with the supervisor in relationship to daily client activities; facilitates an emotional and physical environment conducive to enhancing positive client morale and stabilization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of causes and treatment of substance addiction and abuse; ability to monitor client behavior and daily activities to determine when crisis intervention is needed and to effectively communicate client behavior to clinical and supervisory staff; ability to effectively and efficiently organize and maintain records; ability to maintain security of confidential records.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or G.E.D required and one year of experience preferably in a social service setting or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements; ability to read, write, and communicate the English language; ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability to relate well with a variety of people; ability to exercise good judgment and make responsible decisions with a minimum of supervision; ability and willingness to work from a team approach; ability to empathize and serve as a role model; ability to exhibit personal integrity, mature judgment, and emotional stability suitable to the job; ability to adhere to The Salvation Army Mission Statement by practicing respect, esteem, and dignity toward all mankind; ability to operate and answer a multi-line telephone; ability to stay awake and alert while on shift; limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time; duties are usually performed seated; sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
