The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for a Summer Camp Dining Room/Front Desk Attendant for the Jackson MS Corps, located in Jackson, MS.
Job Summary:
Assists in the preparation and serving of meals and snacks; coordinates the cleaning of the kitchen and dining area; maintains inventory.
Monitors the arrival and departure of children from the facility; provides information and answers questions about programs, classes and scheduled events; provides supervision during recreation and physical activities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to complete the Safe From Harm training within seven (7) days of hire. Ability to monitor children activities to ensure their health and safety. Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate manner. Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques. Ability to assist in the preparation and presentation of snacks and meals. Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances. Ability to clean kitchen and dining area. Ability to communicate effectively with children and staff.
Experience and Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and six months experience providing adult supervision to children preferred
Licenses and Certifications:
None.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to observe children and youth and ensure their safety. Duties are usually performed by frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling, or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting.
Works is performed in a normal kitchen environment where there may be limited physical discomforts associated with working around hot stoves/ovens or cold freezers.
