Scope And Purpose Of PositionResponsible for the physical stewardship of property by cleaning and maintaining the Corps, Dining Area, Pantry, and grounds.
Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and minor repairs of buildings and grounds
  • Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. Maintain equipment and supply closet.
  • Assist with Risk Management activities of the facility.
  • Ensure the safety of all people in the corps when a task is being performed by utilizing proper signage and blocking areas when necessary to prevent accidents or injury.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings.
  • Follow the weekly cleaning schedule provided by the Corps Officers
  • Prepare rooms for activities, programs, as requested.
  • Maintain chapel area and prepare as requested for Sunday meetings and classes.
  • Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies either manually or by using hand trucks as needed.
  • Notify Corps Officers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to the building operating system.
  • Complete additional duties assigned by Corps Officers as deemed necessary.

QualificationsSPECIAL SKILLS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment and able to learn acceptable cleaning methods.
  • Handyman/Tradesman skills preferred.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and floor/buffing equipment.
  • Must have experience with operating manual/power tools in a safe manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to drive and work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to willingly attend and participate in training sessions.
  • Valid Driver’s License that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
