DEPARTMENT: CFOT - PERSONNEL

POSITION TITLE: Family Care Center Education Coordinator

STATUS: Exempt - Full Time

PAY RANGE: $67,000 ANNUALLY

MISSION STATEMENT:

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Education or comparable degree in related Educational Field and Day Care Experience.
  • Experience working within Salvation Army programs
  • Experience in group leadership
  • Must be 21 yrs. or older
  • Must have a valid California Driver License
  • Must have a clean driving record and participate in fleet safety training
  • Must be available on weekends and evenings
  • Must be able to participate in light physical activity

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must have the ability to work with children and parents in a capacity of leadership, counseling, and education
  • Must have ability in the child care field, administrative techniques and competency in office procedures
  • Team player
  • Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure
  • General knowledge of business protocols
  • Ability and willingness to keep information confidential
  • Full knowledge of Salvation Army Programs and mission.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Strong problem solving skills.

  • Ability to coach, mentor and motivate Teens.

SOFTWARE-RELATED SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office Suite & office equipment
  • Ability to use new software programs with basic training, required

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Family Care Director, the Family Care Center Education Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operation and proper function of the Family Care Center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team approach which reinforces good behavior and positive attitudes.
  • Treat each child and adult with dignity and respect, being sensitive and responsive to the needs of the children at all times,
  • Concerned for the safety and well-being of children, teens, and parents of the FCC.
  • Create a harmonious atmosphere.
  • Maintain a safe environment: adhere and enforce to Protecting the Mission Standards.
  • Work two shifts of Sundays, at least once a month, occasional Saturdays and evenings when needed, and any special events: Welcome, Commissioning, etc.
  • Work school holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, Easter, and Memorial Day.
  • Keep bulletin boards up to date using monthly curriculum themes.
  • Maintain teaching calendar and supplies for teachers.
  • Maintain snack schedule and work with kitchen for snack needs.
  • Responsible for ensuring that FCC is open at 8 am and closed at 4:20 pm Monday through Friday and for the opening and closing of any other weekdays that FCC is required to be open.
  • Plan and implement holiday and special activities
  • Assist with maintenance of furnishings and equipment.
  • Plan and execute, along with the Family Care Director, training programs for staff, yearly orientation meetings and monthly teacher meetings.
  • May be called upon to assist in classrooms, playground, food prep, housekeeping, office needs, etc.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of educational and Christian curriculum for all age levels, in cooperation with FCC Director and teachers.
  • Assist in transportation as needed.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and recruitment of staff.
  • Schedule on call and Sunday staff.
  • Participate in programs and activities designed to promote increased professional competencies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.   • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate telephone.
  • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (usually file boxes).
  • Ability to access and produce information from a computer.
  • Ability to understand written information.
