The Salvation Army Silvercrest is Hiring a Services Coordinator Near Riverside, CA

Silvercrest Senior Residences serve to fill a critical need for housing for low-income seniors. Residents pay only thirty percent of their income for housing, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) pays the difference. These apartment-style communities range in size from 22 to 257 units. The units are equipped with a private kitchen and comfortable living quarters, which encourage independent living.

Job: Service Coordinator

Status: Full-Time

Salary Range: $22.00-$23.00 per hour

Location: Riverside Silvercrest in Riverside, CA

Unit Size: 75

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day identification of human service needs of residents of a Salvation Army Silvercrest housing facility, specifically related to issues of aging in place.
  • Identifies needs and develops service plans.
  • Identifies available services in the community and works to make them available to the building, either on-site or through individual referrals to services.
  • Educates residents and other staff in service provision and issues of aging in place.
  • Assists the Manager in issues related to resident independence.

Experience

Required
  • 2 year(s): Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology, Social Work, Psychology, or related field preferred, in addition to a minimum of 2 years' experience preferred.
Preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including oral and written communications
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of or willingness and ability to learn general HUD program requirements for 202s and PRACs.
  • Knowledge of local service agencies and resources for the elderly, knowledge of entitlement programs for the elderly
  • Understanding of legal liability issues relating to providing service coordination
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of working with the elderly and knowledge of the process and issues of aging, including disability, mental health and abuse issues
